As a child of five, Kiki Ebsen fell in love with classical music, as she began attending symphony performances by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. Watching great conductors at work, spending summer evenings at the Hollywood Bowl, and hearing grand recordings of the masters playing throughout her childhood home predetermined her future career path in the arts.

It was no surprise that she chose California Institute of the Arts for her secondary education, where she earned her BFA degree in Vocal Performance. In college, Kiki appeared as Barbarina in “The Marriage of Figaro,” backed by the California Institute of Arts Orchestra. In her senior year, she also won the title of (National) Collegiate Entertainer of the Year, an award which included a substantial donation to her college’s Music Department, today known as The Herb Alpert School of Music at the California Institute of the Arts.

Upon graduation, Kiki toured with numerous Grammy-winning rock musicians, and performed alongside multiple artists including Christopher Cross (several dates) and The Colin Hay Band (St. Petersburg, Florida) in pop orchestral shows in the United States. For over a decade, her work included select roles as a guest musician with The Colin Hay Band, performing with The Florida Orchestra (St. Petersburg, Florida) and with David Benoit and Michael Paulo, performing with the Magenta Symphony Orchestra at the Java Jazz Festival in Jakarta, Indonesia.

As she incorporated tours as an independent singer/songwriter into her schedule while touring with rock musicians, Kiki next expanded her focus on jazz performance, where she ultimately became a headliner in numerous shows with her own group, The Kiki Ebsen Band. From that initiative, in 2014 she recorded her sixth album, “Scarecrow Sessions” in time for Father’s Day. Jazz selections from the Great American Songbook were the focus of her CD produced by David Mann (Painted Pony Media), a tribute to the seven-decade career of her father, Buddy Ebsen.

Kiki turned her CD into a multimedia tribute show, “To Dad with Love, A Tribute to Buddy Ebsen,” which currently is being received most enthusiastically by both critics and audiences.

“Scarecrow Sessions’ showcases her classically-trained voice imbued in its warm, elegant, and inspirational performances.””
