Premarin is an estrogen hormone replacement drug for women going through menopause or who have had a hysterectomy. Over the last two years my sister Bonnie and I have rescued 3 Premarin foals. They are the innocent byproduct a drug industry that manufactures this hormone replacement drug by collecting the urine of pregnant mares (Premarin is short for PREgnant MARe urINe). Once the foals are born a percentage are sold or adopted but far too many end up in the feedlot where they are eventually slaughtered for the overseas meat market.
